Elephants Ear

Elephants Ear – or Slonovo Uvo (=Croatian: Elephant’s Ear) – is a large bell pepper from Croatia. Their pods flatten out when ripe and in fact look like a large elephant’s ear. This Capsicum annuum produces heavy, thick-walled and sweet pods. They usually only have two pulp chambers. In Serbia and Croatia, the variety is used to produce the well-known relish Ajvar, a seasoning sauce served as a side dish. Because of their shape, their pods are of course also very suitable for stuffing.
