Smith who discovered it in 1954 at a market in Huánuco. He then deposited it at the Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN) and Agricultural Research Service (ARS). Their yellow pods are up to 3in long. They develop a thick, crunchy flesh and a fruity flavor with medium heat. They can be processed in many ways, being especially suitable for salads or salsas.
