Huánuco – also known under the accession PI 215734 – is a very productive Capsicum chinense from Peru. The variety was discovered by the botanist E.E. Smith who discovered it in 1954 at a market in Huánuco. He then deposited it at the Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN) and Agricultural Research Service (ARS). Their yellow pods are up to 3in long. They develop a thick, crunchy flesh and a fruity flavor with medium heat. They can be processed in many ways, being especially suitable for salads or salsas. With this product you bring a piece of Peruvian culture into your garden.
