Marianna’s Peace

Marianna’s Peace – actually Marianne’s Peace – is an old heirloom that originally comes from the Czech Republic and was spread in the USA. This pink, large beefsteak tomato develops a classic and complex tomato flavor. It’s named after the Czech Marianne Worschech Tibbetts (1927-2013), who was persecuted by Russians during the Second World War. She was able to escape during a transport to a labor camp. The seeds were handed over by Marianne’s sister to Gary Ibsen, owner of TomatoFest, who continued to cultivate and sell them. Today the variety is grown worldwide – a very nice tribute to a very brave woman.
